The name ode comes from a gesture of appreciation. Not in the grand sense, but in the way certain objects come to matter through daily use. A holder, a vessel, a surface, a trace. ode is interested in these small acts of living, and in giving them form.

That interest became the beginning of this work. The aim was to make objects with presence, but without excess. Pieces that could be lived with closely, returned to often, and known more fully through use. Each object continues that study. Form, material, and use are considered together, with attention given not only to what an object is, but to what it gathers over time.

What is shown here is the raw side of building ode. Not as background material, but as part of the work itself.
